We Heart Art
For Valentine 2011 Helga Felleisen presents fifteen re-appropriated, hand-cut paper bags. Cut free-hand, pulp fiction ponders the history of each bag, from pulp and water to post-consumer artifact. Used, reused and now rendered non-functional, light passes through them. Imagery fluctuates between the recognizable and abstract. Folded, the layers both reveal and conceal. What do their stories tell?
A Boston-area artist, Helga Felleisen specializes in hand-cut paper. She chooses to work in this medium because its properties best convey memory and transience. |
